  • 2. Ice Age. The most recent glacial period, which occurred during the Pleistocene Epoch and ended about 10,000 years ago. About: The Frozen Universe

Lilian Michaels on the Channel 10 news reported the first change in the weather pattern. She recognized something shifting in the world. It was lucky for her that her husband is a scientist, and he happily confirmed her discovery. In fact, the entire world was shifting- the way the Earth was going around the Sun was changing, and it seemed it had been doing that subtly for the past several decades.

Unfortunately, like most things, this discovery was made just in time for it to be too late.

The President of the United States of America had been informed of this change, and in his infinite wisdom he broadcast an emergency statement across all channels; There was a cooling trend coming, weather was forming over our seas and would make the US coast. We could all expect the weather to dump several feet of snow all over the US, and for more storms to follow. But it was already too late. And very few people, who knew it all, watched this broadcast or heeded the warning. It was summer, after-all, and it was still hot. Why should we care?

But, the storms did come in. And it came in fast, and hard. It was almost as if the entire world had been suddenly flash frozen. Some people died where they were walking, others had a chance to run into a building for cover. Snow was falling, and it fell quickly. People in cars that still would run, ran into each-other because there is NO visibility. If it wasn’t so devastating, it would have been a beautiful and magnificent sight to behold.

This weather was a quick determiner of those who would survive, and those who were destine to die. The very young, and the very old did the worst in the weather; dying within several days. Right away some people went out into the cold to search for help, but this only resulted in several people falling dead as the storms still roared. But eventually it would become necessary for most everyone to brave the cold, and begin to find some semblance of life.

The animals had been the smart ones, and they did the best. The wolves by far were the most intelligent, and they had stuck to their dens, only venturing out to clear ways for them to get out of the snow banks. Deer and other wild life also thrived, as their instincts served them well. I wish we could say our instincts served us well, but to this day.. it just doesn’t always turn out that way. Our instincts are dulled by our lavish luxury living that we were use-to. Now, we will have to go back to our more base instincts.

Some people survived by creating dwellings from caves, and from snow (like Eskimos). And others survived by living off of the knowledge and keen instinct that some people did still have. But even so, people don’t change much. In a world where we need to rebuild, there are still those that cannot bring themselves to face reality. Feminists still see themselves as equal to men, a lot died because of that- smaller frame bodies, makes for a much faster freeze. Men who hated women, or used them, found themselves alone and without anyone to cuddle against, or to love. And in these dark times, love is just about all we got left.

Storms began to calm down six months after they started, but it still snows regularly. Some people say its to keep the snow from just melting away- some people say its the start of glaciers. No one really knows. Its all just a big guess, since we don’t have radio communication, let alone TV news, and let me just tell yah…. the Postal Service stopped delivering mail when the storms came, they didn’t keep to their word (”Neither rain, nor sleet, nor gloom of night will keep me from my appointed rounds.“). But you might find that not everyone does. Not when its life and death. Some people turn ruthless, and cruel. Others though, this kind of thing brings out the best in them.

True leaders are born in these kinds of times, as are heroes. And villains.

New Player Info.

Below are instructions for how to join the great big frozen world, how to create a character, join or create a group, and creating your story-lines. To begin you must create a survivor character, and choose or create a group.

How to Play

These are instructions for how to join the great big frozen world, how to create a character, join or create a group, and creating your story-lines.

To begin you must create a survivor character, and choose or create a group.

Creating a Character

  • Creating your character is an easy process, you should have a back story in mind for your character as well as a name, and avatar (image). You can (if you like) use a dice system to figure out stats, but for the most part this isn’t necessary.
  • You do need to have in mind that people that survived are probably either; Strong & built well, or they grouped themselves up with people who were strong, and could take care of them. But doing a person’s fair share of work would be required, so keep that in mind- small children would not be an ideal character (unless you have a good idea for one).
  • No super powered characters; this is the survival of the fittest, not the survival of the mutants.
  • Alignment; Good or Evil, friend of foe, Hero or Villain. Your group alignment might be different. You don’t need to publish this information, but try to keep it in mind while you play.
  • Choose, or create a group*(see below) of people for your character to be apart of. Survival depends upon groups, large or small.
  • Please note that you are playing within the Frozen Universe in your character’s tags; and keep in mind the boundaries of the Universe. Crossovers aren’t possible.
  • Please also keep in mind that for the most part only high rises, mountains and possibly some trees are above the snow blanket on the ground. This means there are no bars, or clubs, or other mundane buildings and places. Homes are under the blanket cover, so unless your character managed to get out of their home before their air ran out, it would be impossible for a role play to begin within a home dwelling- UNLESS the home is newly built on top of the snow.
  • Contact Pandora so that your character can be added to the Survivors list.
  • Be sure you add your character to the Gotham and Beyond character wiki.

Creating a Group

Creating groups is also another easy prospect, and the most fun part of this character development. Since groups are formed out of large or small amounts of people, groups can be combined. We welcome people NPCing group members, unless and until you have someone else to play them.

  • First of all you need to have a general location for your group. Since everything is under ice and snow, a group location like “Portland, OR area” is good enough- but this gives other groups the knowledge as to where and how far they might need to travel to reach your group.
  • Group Numbers are important as well, a large civilization might be less welcoming than a smaller group, or vise versa for whatever motive they have.
  • Alignment; Good or Evil, friend of foe, Heroes or Villains? Remember that one character out of a bunch of Heroes can be a Villain, but by in large what is the group’s affiliation? Please publish this information, as someone may want to join your group if its good OR bad.
  • Leader(s), council, weaver, etc. If your group has decided upon roles for each person, based on their strong suits, list the names of the people in the group with their roles in the group. This will help people bring their characters to one character or another in play. You may not have roles right away in your group, and that is just fine.
  • Assets; Does your group have an abundance of food? Dry wood? Does it have a good clothes maker? Or is it just about the safest place for a person to be? Such assets attract survivors, or make them distance themselves from joining a group. So be creative.
  • Contact Pandora to have your group added to the survivor groups section.

Storylines

Not all storylines are the same, this is just a Universe for you to play in. So what you decide to do with your character placed in this unfriendly, unforgiving universe is entirely up to you. Gotham and Beyond is all about imagination, and that’s why the Frozen Universe is aligned with Gotham; we want you to come up with new and interesting stories.
