History

When you look into Raven's eyes, you know instantly that this isn't a simple creature before you. You almost know that there is something about her that speaks of an unthinkable past, an unthinkable age. She is haunted, and in the modern world she is a shell of what she use to be. You could blame her for it, for she brought it upon herself. She trusted, when she shouldn't have. She zigged, when she should have zagged. She believed in hope, when she should have known there was none to be had.

At her age, she should have known that she, of all creatures in this world and others, had no hope. But there was a relentless spirit, and tenaciousness about her. She believed that things would work themselves out for the best. She believed she had a reason, and a right to exist. But as the years rolled along, she began to see that the reason for her existence was so that she could be God's little joke. And it was that, that began to kill her.

But, I'm jumping ahead. Her story is a long one, and it begins a very, very long time ago. Few believe she could even be the age she is. But I'll tell you this, whatever her age.. whatever time she comes from, she has kept her wits and her sanity... and she'll be the first to let you think she is younger than her years, for it gives her the advantage. I can't even comprehend her skills, not the full breath of them. But perhaps we'll touch on the important ones here, perhaps we won't. But lets just say she is between several hundred thousand, to a million years old. That gives you a general idea.

Raven was born in an area of the world now known as Orleans, France. At the time it wasn't called that, but the language which could have given us a name is long dead. It doesn't matter anyway, this way at least you can put your finger on a map and see for yourself where she was born. Her life was unremarkable. She had several brothers and sisters, several aunts and uncles, cousins, and she had two very loving parents. She was born into what we would consider a tribe.

For years things were great, life was peaceful. But as often happens, another tribe decides that a peaceful tribe has something they want. It happens to be the women. Raven was coming of age at that point, she was the equivalent of a sixteen year old, maybe seventeen if you want to keep track of that kind of thing. And Raven was beautiful, without a doubt; with long wavy black hair, a curvy hourglass shape, full lips, beautiful blue eyes. A real knock out, by anyone's standards, of any age. Her sisters were beautiful as well, you could call it genetics, for the men were handsome as well. Perhaps that was why the near neanderthal barbarian's raided her tribe, because her genetics could only breed more handsome children; strong men, and women built for breeding. Whatever the reason, they had no intention of showing the tribe any mercy.

The tribe was obliterated. And few survived. The lucky ones didn't. One of Raven's nieces managed to escape, and made it to a neighboring village, which would now be better prepared than Raven's had been. They would be prepared to take down the neanderthal barbarians.

But this didn't save Raven. She was one of the unlucky ones. No, scratch that.. she was the unluckiest of them all. She was brutally beaten, stabbed repeatedly for her unwillingness. She was dragged into the tribe's graveyard, where she was raped repeatedly by the barbarians. She was given no mercy, for she laid near the edge of death, in that graveyard for hours.. suffering from her countless wounds. They could have killed her, those barbarians, but they didn't.. they knew that if she managed to survive she would always remember what was done to her, and it would serve as a reminder for anyone else that might cross them. But no one expected her to survive, and truly she began to slip away.

That would have been peace for her, dying. Her family was dead for all she knew, every last person lost. She would be scarred for life, emotionally and physically. And she would have counted herself lucky to escape the pain. But that... simply didn't happen.

The moon rose high in the night sky, and to her horror she heard the screaming, wailing sounds of something frightening.. she didn't know where it came from, but suddenly she was surrounded. The screaming, how it tortured her mind.. painful cries, ecstatic cries, murderously violent cries.. they filled her ears until she could hear nothing, not even her own begging for death. Raven's story is not simply her own story, it is also the story of thousands of demons. Demons and spirits who had been stuck on earth since the beginning of time, with no form, and no place to go or be.

These creatures were not happy, to say the least. They meant to scare her, they meant to kill her. And yet she was so strong that despite everything, she remained.. gaping in horror at the sight of the violent beings surrounding her. And then it happened. One demon caught on to the idea that they might be able to take this strong human, and enter her body.. reanimate her before she could become one of them. With her spirit weak, it should have been easy. It would finally have a body to exist in, for the first time able to fulfill a purpose it believed it had.

But as with any mob, one being gets an idea, and the others simply have to horde in. It should have made dominating her spirit so much easier. But as the demons and the spirits entered her body through her wounds, her mouth, her eyes, her ears, they were struck by the strength of Raven's own spirit. Of course, after they had entered her they couldn't leave. There was no escape for them, no escape for Raven. Born that night was one of the first vampires.

Her body changed, it healed, grew even more beautiful in an ethereal way. When she opened her eyes, they were of the most vibrant iridescent violet. Her body grew stronger. Faster. More powerful than anyone could ever imagine. But inside, Raven began to lose her sanity. There were others made just like her, at a time when Demons and Angels existed on Earth. Few survived, most were made into monstrous creatures. Others lost their minds, and turned into the demons that had invaded them. But the thing that truly stands out, is that Raven was invaded by thousands of Demons and spirits. Other vampires only had one or maybe a few more invade a human form, but nothing like what Raven endured - for she was in the right place at the right time, a graveyard, where demons, and spirits converged. Most of these new, first generation vampires went insane, and managed to find a way to end their lives or be killed. Others simply burrowed into the Earth, never to be seen again, all because of the insanity they were beginning to experience as soon as they were transformed.

They did not survive.

Raven did.

As her sanity slipped, Raven realized she had to learn to control these demons inside her or she would end up like the others of her kind. She had witnessed battle fields full of vampires struggling with themselves, with the demons inside them.. and most of them fall. There had been a surge in such creations, no one knew why, but suddenly there were thousands of them. But they didn't last. They died, most of them. Until only a very few first generation vampires existed. No one knows why these Vampires were able to survive, perhaps it was the genetics of the body, or the strength of the spirit that originally controlled that body. Whatever caused their survival, many of them remained insane, while others began to set out in the world.. what happened to the few that had survived, there are stories, no one knows for sure. There are only maybe five or six that remain now, if that. All have become like dust, content to allow the children they sired to rule. All.. except for Raven.

Valerius Camillus (First Husband)
She traveled the world, searching for hope. For love. For something. Something to help her harness the power of those demons inside her, help her contain them.

It was many, many thousands of centuries later when she met and fell in love with her greatest love, Valerius Camillus, an early Roman soldier from transition of the Roman Republic to the Roman Empire (approximately 27 B.C.). He was a minor soldier in his clan, who found himself disgusted with the womanizing, drunken, murderous ways of his people, specifically the other soldiers. His parents were dead, as were the rest of his family, so he had been raised with these people and their ways; yet he never approved. After a glorious victory for his clan he left the drunken partying, and raping going on, to get his rage out on an animal or to find a fight in the forest. But instead of finding a fight he could win, he encountered Raven. Raven was always one to play with the humans, to find out what they would do if given something. So she gave him the reward of power, the power that came from a drink of her blood. He would have strength, and a certain amount of natural resistance to wounds, and even a power to put others under his swoon. But he wanted more from her. He wanted to lay with her, and he requested it in addition to the reward of power.

Always a sucker for a pretty human, she gave him one night with her. And in that night she found such passion that she had never felt before, and didn't feel after him. She wanted him again, she wanted more of him.. but she had said only one night. And he was human.. she knew she would lose control if she saw him again, as it was she had to bite into her hand to keep from feeding on him while they made love. But he wanted her as well, and he was not so easily put aside. He would search for her the next night, but not find her. He would then make his play for power in his clan, and in doing so he would overestimate himself and a foolish mistake would end his life. He was disposed of in the forest, away from the Clan, as a last shame to be brought upon him of dying away from his people. But as he lay there, Raven came to him and took his pain away with a mournful bite. But she couldn't simply let him go.. she fed him from her, and her blood gave him new life, reanimated him.

From that point on after she had given in to the love she felt for him, and the love he felt for her, and for many many years, perhaps centuries, she and Valerius would live together as husband and wife. Until an evening when a band of rogue vampires had convinced a battalion of humans that she and Valerius were demons, and needed to be disposed of. The threat was all too real for Valerius, and Raven refused to lose him to a raging horde. So she sent him away, and made a stand at their home. After Raven killed all of the vampires, and incinerated her home with Valerius with the human witnesses within, she left to search for Valerius.

But she would never find Valerius, though she would try for centuries.

Many, many more centuries later she would find younger vampires and would become their leader, their guide in this world. They would become her companions, her reason for keeping her demons in control. She needed them as much as they needed her. She had grown to resent the creation of new vampires, by sires who would not teach their childe the rules of their kind. Because of this resentment, she refused to create any new vampires. Not only because of this, but because the few she did sire went insane with the power of her blood. She was forced to destroy those that could not hold their power, love them as she might. She wondered what had become of Valerius, if he had gone insane.. if he was still alive. And perhaps because of the memory of her mate, she took other orphaned vampires under her wing and taught, and lead them.

Part of her appreciation for these younger vampires was something maternal in Raven. She would never have children, for that she mourned deeply, as a human woman would. But she could be Mother to others.

After her vampire children had gone off on their own, to forge their own lives, Raven was told about a place in France where there were a theater of Vampires. There she met, and took as her lover a younger Vampire called Armand. For a short time she thought she was happy. But after her lover's attention turned to another Vampire, she left him and his damned cohorts. A few claimed allegiance to her, and left the troupe of actor vampires to follow Raven.

Perhaps a few centuries later, she parted company with those vampires as well. She began to explore beyond her own realm, and found in a Nexus of many realms, an inn called Glenshadows Tavern. She found there many creatures. Creatures she had never known existed. Creatures that befriended the usually anti-social vampiress. She met many creatures, men and women. She encountered another Vampire, nearly as old as she, called Vladamire. There she also met another man, a Spaniard, she would sire, and marry who called himself Raul Valesquez. There was something about him that reminded her of her first love, and she hoped beyond all hope that he would somehow be the anchor to her life. She adopted a half-vampire child during the course of her short marriage, but soon found her husband to be working behind her back to betray her.. to steal power, to be the most powerful Vampire in existence.

Vladamire (Ex-Husband, No. 3)
Her husband became an abusive, and very powerful creature in his own right. After destroying her power mad husband, she raised her Dhampire child until it grew into its adulthood and began its own life.

Raven wandered from the Tavern that had become like a home for her, for it only held broken promises for her. After a failed marriage, another failed romance, she sought out the world in which she knew. She returned to Earth, and began to hunt. She hunted like she had never hunted before. She wasn't simply hunting to calm the demons inside her, but to calm the blood-rage and blood-lust. She found villains in the streets, and she began to pick them apart.. quite literally. She ripped them apart from their head to their feet, with her bare hands, dismembering, torturing.. pulling their guts from them, and having them watch as they lived through it. She would tear their hearts from their chest, often times after she had taken their manhood, again quite literally. She was in a state for several decades.

After the insanity abated, there was a time she was pursued by the Vampire Vladamire. Unlike Raul he did not seek her power, but her companionship; for he felt they were cut of the same cloth. She married the Vampire, for he gave her a compelling argument; they had crossed paths so many times, it was destiny pulling them together.

But this did not make him a good man. He was far from it. He was as brooding and dark as she. He brought out the darkest part of her, made her more deadly.. less controlled. And she knew he did not love her, but they looked good together.. they were both powerful, and no one dared cross them. There were many, many things wrong with their union. Perhaps that was why it fell apart. And with it, Raven's sanity.

She found a quiet place in another Nexus where she could rest, for all eternity for all she cared. And for some time she sat within a tomb, silent.. unmoving, unchanging, like a statue. But silence does not last, and very soon a cult had formed to worship the oldest living Vampire, a powerful Vampire with the face of a girl, the rage of a murderer, and the sadness of the unloved and unwanted. Raven signified for many cultists the pain of life, and the triumph of the eternal. They hoped that one day she would wake, and would grant them eternal life. But those cultists would not get their way, for she remained nonspeaking, and unmoving before them.. until their bodies had withered, and weakened, and finally perished.

Raven only left the tomb once, to return to her homeland in Orleans, France. To find a tomb deep within the ground, where she could truly be forgotten, and perhaps one day herself perish. She did not need blood anymore, but that didn't mean that she wouldn't simply cease to exist. At least.. she hoped.

It was perhaps decades, later that it happened. A man who had been wandering the world happened upon the area where Raven was buried and sealed within her tomb. For the first time in a long, long time he felt something familiar. It pulled him. He began to dig, and dig with his hands, to the entrance of the corridor to the tomb. He had to force the corridor open, as it had been caved in by Raven's request to her caretakers as a last request. He entered the tomb of a woman who sat perfectly still, like the statue of a goddess, buried with her was mementos of her past lives. Familiar items. He had finally found the woman he had spent what felt like a millennium searching for.

His wife.

Valerius had managed to find a place she had once frequented, her name still on their lips. There he found out about his wife's life, as it had been within Glenshadows tavern. The men she had married, while he searched for her relentlessly. The child she had adopted. And the pain that followed her. Perhaps with a bit of maliciousness he was pleased to learn of the unhappiness that the life she tried to build without him had brought her, as if it was karma... and he was the only man that could give her happiness, peace. The happiness and peace they had had together before their world had been shattered, that he knew they could reclaim.

But he had stopped looking, only to find her.. to feel her in that tomb in Orleans. But despite his insistance, his commands of her, she did not respond. Not until he told her to get up. And then she flew into a rage, seemingly having gone insane.

Eventually her rage would reveal itself to be anguish, and guilt, as well as perhaps a fear that she was in fact losing her mind, and was seeing her husband who she thought was long dead. After a more calmed, though tumultuous, conversation Raven would accept that her husband was indeed alive, and he was not going to ever leave her side again; for he had searched for her since they had parted, and he was strong enough not to care for himself and for her if need be. There was nothing further to part them. And because the customers for marriage were more elaborate and seemed more fixed, they remarried. Later returning to a crumbling castle that Valerius had taken to live in.

This is not the end of Raven's story however, it is just the beginning of yet another chapter.

Vampire Mythos

This section is about the mythology used in the creation of these types of vampires, and how it applies to Raven, others like her, and Fledglings.

This section can be used as a guide for use in creating a new vampire based on Raven's biology. However, it must be understood that Raven's mythology is unique to her, and does not apply to all vampires in existence (so this information would not apply to a vampire from the Twilight Series of books, or White Wolf's Vampire the Masquerade vampires). Due to the fact that Raven has been played for a number of years, any vampires created using this information should conform to the idea of Raven being the eldest living vampire on Earth. If this is not acceptable to the player, then it is suggested that they create their own vampire, with their own original conceptual ideas; otherwise they will be considered to be encroaching on a developed idea for a vampire biology that pertains to a specific storyline, in other words its copyright infringement. Raven's storyline took years to flesh out, and for an elder to be played, it is expected that any other characters would have such development fleshed out throughout the years, with a similar dedication as was shown to Raven and her concept.

Generational Abilities

This section will go through the generations of vampires, their available abilities and weaknesses. Many resources are used in creation of this section, in order to allow others more of a choice in their vampire character.

First generation

There are no first generation vampires created after 4000 B.C. The first generation vampire is considered the greatest of Vampire royalty, and are feared for their awesome powers.

The first generation of vampire in this mythos is created via a demon entering their bodies at the time of death. Most will go insane instantly from this process, and in their early days/months/years/centuries when they are the weakest, they will be destroyed or kill themselves.

In the beginning there were thousands of these such vampires that wandered country sides, like Zombies. They often would fight each other and rip each other apart. Those that managed to survive were destroyed by the sane vampires that saw the danger in allowing such creatures to frighten the humans, and give away what they were.

The ones that are strong and sane enough to survive are the first vampires. They become the elders, and what happens to them will generally effect the lines of their vampire fledglings. In other words, if an elder goes into the sun- it will not effect them, but it will incinerate the younger generations (Eighth generation and younger) who's blood is not strong enough. There are instances where younger vampires, who have been taken under an Elder's wing and fed their blood, can withstand the results of the Elder's exposure to the sun.

There are very few existing First generation elders in play (Raven being the only known Elder), as most become entombed at some point for their protection, and the protection of their generations if they begin to lose their grip on sanity. There is no know point, or time when an Elder should be entombed. The vast majority of elders have had themselves in entombed.

It is believed that over the years the elders have developed a connection enough, that they know each other's wishes and decisions, so it is possible for one Elder to pass judgment and have the backing of all of the other elders.

Elders are generally feared because of the awesome power they wield; the extent of their powers, strength, and abilities are unknown, perhaps even to them.

Strengths/Abilities: Telepathy, Seduction or swoon, able to jump high places and travel by such means, Flying, Exceptional Style/Grace, Alchemy, ultra-high level strength (immensely more powerful than a human), super-high level strength (immensely more powerful than a human), Stealth, Athletics, Presence, enhanced senses, frenzy, shadow manipulation, premonition, fast healing, speed, super-speed, able to climb walls, telekinetic, pyrokinesis, mind control (over lower levels), cause madness, claws, transform to mist, demon summoning, other unknown powers.

Weaknesses: Insanity (does not apply to all elders).

Second to Third generation

There are rarely any second generation vampires created after 1200 A.D. due to the overwhelming strength of an elder's blood, and its effects on the new fledglings. Second generation vampires are quite picky over those that they would gift with the amazing power of being a third generation vampire. Third generations are just as picky. This is due in large part to the fact that the fourth and fifth generation vampire's duties, and a human is likely to be picked by a second or third generation vampire to directly fill the duties of a fourth and fifth generation vampire

The second generation vampire is considered the greatest of Vampire royalty along with the First generation (Kings & Queens), and are feared for their awesome powers as well. Third generation vampires are considered lower royals (princes), but are feared for their powers as well.

The second and third generation vampires often stand in the stead of the first generation elders, and will dole out sentences and punishments, while the Fourth and Fifth generation carry out the duties to enforce those decisions.

Strengths/Abilities: Second level may have some or all of these abilities, Third generation may have some of these abilities; Telepathy, Seduction or swoon, able to jump high places and travel by such means, Flying, Exceptional Style/Grace, Alchemy, super-high level strength (immensely more powerful than a human), high level strength (immensely more powerful than a human), Stealth, Athletics, Presence, enhanced senses, frenzy, shadow manipulation, premonition, fast healing, speed, super-speed, able to climb walls, telekinetic, pyrokinesis, mind control (over lower levels), cause madness, claws.

Weaknesses: Weaknesses do not apply to all vampires but can be chosen as a weakness (must choose at least 1); Sunlight damage/death, skin is not hard or resistant to injury, Fire damage/death, lack of blood causes deterioration, lack the ability to feel, unable to hear thoughts or feelings, unable to drink human blood or unable to drink animal blood, must sleep during daylight hours, Insanity (does not apply to all elders).

Fourth to Fifth generation

Fourth and fifth generation vampires have been known to be attacked by their fledglings, which have lead many to leave the creation of new vampires to younger vampires- this helps to make lower powered vampires that would be less likely to attack.

However, the fourth and fifth generation vampires are not attacked because they are weak. They generally have to withstand a younger vampire's refusal of a sentence and punishment passed for them by the elders, resulting in fights and vendetta's by the sentenced vampire, and/or their family/coven. As a result they are the most likely of all vampires to refuse their blood to a human, but instead will request a younger vampire to embrace a human if they wish to have a human embraced.

Strengths/Abilities: More likely to have several of these abilities than the following generations; Telepathy, Seduction or swoon, able to jump high places and travel by such means, Flying, Exceptional Style/Grace, Alchemy, high level strength (immensely more powerful than a human), Stealth, Athletics, Presence, enhanced senses, frenzy, shadow manipulation, premonition, fast healing, speed, able to climb walls, claws.

Weaknesses: Standard abilities are weaknesses a vampire must have, choice weaknesses do not apply to all vampires but can be chosen as an additional weakness (must choose at least 1); Sunlight damage/death (standard), skin is not hard or resistant to injury (standard), Fire damage/death (choice), lack of blood causes deterioration (standard), lack the ability to feel (choice), unable to hear thoughts or feelings (choice), unable to drink human blood (choice) or unable to drink animal blood (choice), must sleep during daylight hours (choice), Insanity (choice).

Sixth to Seventh generation

Generally sixth and seventh generation vampires are coven leaders. They carry the belief in the honor of the older vampires, and still retain a much stronger power base than younger vampires. They are obedient to the elders, and expect obedience from those in their coven.

Sixth and Seventh generation vampires are also given the honor of caring for the elders when/if it comes to it. They are the caretakers for the elders, making sure that no other vampires or dangers reach the elders in their rest, or that the elders do not escape at the height of their insanity. As a result many sixth and seventh generation vampires will establish covens near, or upon the resting ground of the elders.

Strengths/Abilities: More likely to have several of these abilities than the following generations; Telepathy, Seduction or swoon, able to jump high places and travel by such means, Flying, speed, Exceptional Style/Grace, Alchemy, high level strength (immensely more powerful than a human), medium-high strength (immensely more powerful than a human), Stealth, Athletics, Presence, enhanced senses, frenzy, shadow manipulation.

Eighth to Fifteenth generation

More common. Lower level vampires that generally maintain a belief in the old ways, the elders, and do not question their decisions or tactics. These vampires still have a great amount of power, and abilities available to them, where as younger generations do not. But they are less bound to the old ways, and entanglements than the older generations are.

Strengths/Abilities: Most of the vampires do not have all of these abilities, but may have three or four; Telepathy, Seduction or swoon, able to jump high places and travel by such means, Flying, speed, Exceptional Style/Grace, Alchemy, medium-high strength (immensely more powerful than a human), medium strength (immensely more powerful than a human), Stealth, Athletics, Presence, enhanced senses.

Weaknesses: Standard abilities are weaknesses a vampire must have, choice weaknesses do not apply to all vampires but can be chosen as an additional weakness (all must choose 3); Sunlight damage/death (standard), skin is not hard or resistant to injury (standard), Fire damage/death (standard), lack of blood causes deterioration (standard), lack the ability to feel (choice), unable to hear thoughts or feelings (choice), unable to drink human blood (choice) or unable to drink animal blood (choice), must sleep during daylight hours (choice), takes double damage from elder vampires (choice), Insanity (choice).

Sixteenth and younger generations

Most common. These vampires tend to be the rogues of the vampire world. They believe they are stronger than they are and as a result they feel entitled to do as they please. This may result in the fact that these younger generation vampires are less frequently exposed to the Elders, or vise versa; so they do not fully comprehend their place in the Vampire world. These are the most optimistic vampires, as they are the youngest (usually created after the 1600's) and have little world experience compared to their elders. They are, however, the most adept with the modern world and do blend in quite well.

Strengths/Abilities: Most of the vampires do not have all of these abilities, but may have one or two; Telepathy, Seduction or swoon, able to jump high places and travel by such means, speed, Exceptional Style/Grace, Computer comprehension, Alchemy, medium strength (immensely more powerful than a human), low strength (though immensely more powerful than a human), Athletics, Presence.

Weaknesses: Standard abilities are weaknesses a vampire must have, choice weaknesses do not apply to all vampires but can be chosen as an additional weakness (all must choose 3); Sunlight damage/death (standard), skin is not hard or resistant to injury (standard), Fire damage/death (standard), lack of blood causes deterioration (standard), lack the ability to feel (choice), unable to hear thoughts or feelings (choice), unable to drink human blood (choice) or unable to drink animal blood (choice), must sleep during daylight hours (choice), takes double damage from elder vampires (choice), unable to embrace/create fledgling (choice), Insanity (choice).

Lore

These Vampires are not allergic or repelled by Garlic. Does not need to be invited into a place in order to enter. Crosses, sacred items, and other religious symbols have no effect. Mirrors do reflect a vampire's image. Wild rose and hawthorn plants do not harm vampire. Stakes will not kill a vampire, though they may immobilize one, due to injury and depending upon their healing capabilities. Cutting a vampire's head is the surest way of killing a low powered vampire, such methods may not work on older vampires as their skin can be nearly as hard as stone. A vampire cannot be killed via a shooting, though it will require time to heal from the wound. Vampires cannot be drowned, they do not need to breath.

Hierarchy / Genealogy

The first vampires are the strongest and most powerful, and can do things that 20th generation vampires may never be able to do, as long as they live. They are generally considered the deadliest, and the ones to not mess with. They are also considered to be the judges, and lawmakers, while later generations are considered the peacekeepers and carry out vampire law.

The first vampire is the eldest, most elders no longer roam the earth, but are instead buried or entombed. This is done when the Vampire feels it has lived its life, and no longer wishes to participate in the mundane life; or it is done to preserve their line of vampires if they feel their existence may be a danger or used against their fledglings. This is also forced upon an elder if they begin to go insane, by their fledglings as a way of self preservation. What happens to the first vampire can/does effect their fledglings; an first generation vampire goes into the sun, it may not burn them, but it will kill a 20th generation or younger vampire, it may darken the skin of a third generation vampire.

The eldest vampires (1st generation, 2nd generation, sometimes 3rd generation) are considered Royalty among the vampires, usually no matter their race. This is due in large part to the strength of their blood, and the strength and power that come from that. Usually a vampire within these generations will have dedicated vampire servants, or caretakers; these are usually vampires further down in the generation line (perhaps 6th generation, or 7th generation) who still have a great deal of strength and power available to them, are from the same vampire bloodline as the elders, but aren't direct fledglings of the elders. This position is considered an honor, as well as a noble duty. As a result most modern/young vampires will never be charged with this honor, as their blood is usually not as powerful (20th generation, etc.), and they will not feel the honor of such a duty.

First generation vampires were not created after 3000 B.C., while other first generation vampires may have been created differently; the First generation vampires in this storyline were possessed by a demon, usually no more than two. Usually this resulted in insanity, and other first generation vampires had to rid the world of such creatures early on before they became too powerful. More than three demons is usually unheard of when it comes to the possession of a human being transformed into a first generation vampire. Raven is an exception, as she did not go insane, and she had well over thousands of demons and spirits enter her.

Demons are not passed on from the first generation vampire to their fledgelings. The changing of further vampires is due to an exchange of blood from the Sire to the human to be turned Fledgling, and some humans may assume this means there is a virus in the blood of the sire and may look to cure such an affliction. Blood may be given to a human without an expectation of a change, however too much blood will turn a human no matter their state of living or dying. It is preferable for the sire to drain the human, and feed their blood back to the human; this helps the sire remain strong during the transformation, and ensures that their blood takes hold. There are times that the power is too much, and will cause insanity in a fledgling. Such vampires must be destroyed.

Biology

Vampires do not breath, but they usually engage in the act of breathing to appear more human like. Their hearts also do not beat. Vampires are usually cold or cool to the touch, but after a fresh feeding they usually will warm up with the blood that they had fed on unless the blood is already cold. Feeding from the dead will not harm a vampire, but blood quickly goes stale and undesirable when a body has stopped functioning. Just as their lungs do not actually function in a typical way (think of bags of air that fill up, but do not use the oxygen like a human's would), kidneys, and all other organs are do not function typically, though there may be some vampires that can control such organs to simulate function.

These vampires cannot reproduce. They do not have eggs or sperm in which to do this. However, sexual intercourse is possible; it requires a younger generation male vampire to feed heavily before the act, possibly during it, to maintain an erection. Blood releases at the time of ejaculation, instead of sperm. Often times this is a positive benefit for a female vampire partner, but seems to be very disconcerting for many female humans. A female vampire also releases blood, in place of other fluids, and it is easily absorbed by a male vampire, human males either don't care about such a thing, don't notice it, or they are quite bothered by this. There is usually no decrease in sensation in most vampires so orgasm is quite pleasurable, though some vampires that cannot feel things they touch with their skin do not usually experience such pleasures. However those vampires that have the ability to feel things with touch, usually have very powerful orgasms. Intercourse, as it is for humans, is a positive experience generally, and can be a bonding experience. It can also be done simply for the pleasure. Some vampires feel a need to connect this way with some humans (blood dolls, slaves, lovers, partners, etc.), and as some vampires have the ability to put a human in a swoon, it is often as much as positive experience for a human; unless a vampire gets out of control and feeds on them during the act. In which case the act becomes deadly for the human. Mutual feeding between vampires is not unheard of during the act.

Laws

Civilized vampires live by a code of ethics, or laws. Most vampires consider it an honor to live by such laws, and consider it a severe personal affront of those that do not live by such laws.

  1. No human should be turned who will prove to be infirm, or unable to defend themselves. Babies, Children, the mentally disabled, the physically disabled, or anyone afflicted with any infirmity MUST be spared of this turning at all costs.
  2. Any humans who are thusly turned, and are infirm as Vampires must be destroyed. The world is cruel, and so are other vampires. If a vampire is permitted to exist that will endanger their sire or other vampires, it must be culled.
  3. Any vampires who go insane, though not temporarily, must be destroyed. Letting an insane vampire run wild will result in humans knowing who, and what we are, or the human's ultimate destruction. All attempts must be made to ensure our population does not jeopardize too many humans. Humans can/are to be food, but killing all of a town will result in and investigation that could lead to uncovering our world which will not be tolerated.
  4. Elders need to be selective in their turnings, as their age progresses their blood grows more powerful. Such power is enough to drive a new fledgling insane.
  5. It is the Elder's (1st to 3rd Generation) responsibility to fairly judge to decide if a vampire must be culled. No vampire may murder another vampire without proper provocation. It is encouraged that all arguments be brought to an elder for judgment and proper sentencing. This obligation extends to judging whether a vampire is infirm or insane, improperly made, or too weak to care for themselves.
  6. Human mortals must be kept from the knowledge of our existence as much as possible. Humans servants are to be treated fairly, and as kindly as possible.
  7. Third, Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth generation, and sometimes second generation Vampires are the peacekeepers, and carry out the sentencing that an Elder has judged.
  8. Sixth and Seventh Generation vampires can be appointed as caretakers of the Elders, as an honor, and to ensure the safety of all of the vampires by keeping the Elders safe.
  9. Elders must know when they are incapable of caring for themselves, and judge themselves to be cared for in a secret place where they can rest and be safe. If an Elder is incapable of knowing when they should be taken from society, other Elders who are capable must pass judgment and sentencing.
  10. Covens are important communities, and should be honored.
    1. A leader shall be appointed to decide on any human fates, when a coven member wishes to turn them; whether that be turning the human, or destroying the human after it has been allowed too far into our society.
    2. A leader may be removed from their position by a majority vote of coven members.
    3. A leader may also be removed by an Elder.
    4. A coven may have its own laws, but must also follow these laws and ensure their members obey the laws written here.
